Itinerary

We’ll pick you up from your hotel or condo in our new Tahoe SUV or Mercedes Sprinter van (depending on the size of your group) and embark on an island-wide journey that gives you a full, scenic Maui tour experience. We’ll start with a morning ride on the remote south Maui shoreline, past the resorts into remote Makena and the endless lava fields of La Perouse, where you can get the full effect of Haleakala’s last volcanic eruption, in 1790. Choose to hike a few hundred yards of King’s Trail, a footpath built in pre-contact Hawai’i (around 1850) for the ali’i (royalty) and royal messengers, primarily so that the king could survey his lands.

Morning is the best time for a snorkel: if you’re so inclined (whether you’re a beginner, or experienced), we’ll bring the gear and guide you to a phenomenal local snorkeling reef, suitable for all skill levels. If the day is calm and sunny like most Maui mornings, you’ll experience an array of colorful tropical fish, and hopefully a turtle or two cruising by. If you like, we’ll arrange for sea kayaks or standup paddleboards.

From South Kihei, we’ll head toward the Lahaina side, with a quick cruise through Ma’alaea Harbor, our busiest boat thoroughfare. Adjacent to the harbor, there is an eight-mile stretch of nearly deserted beach – if a shoreline swim-hike through Maui’s largest bird sanctuary sounds inviting, we’ll guide the way.

The road to Lahaina is one of the world’s most scenic drives: we’ll stop for photos, a stretch, or a dip wherever you say. A favorite stop along the way: Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Stop. As we move into Lahaina, you’ll see Maui’s vibrant rebuild happening all around you. We’ll pause for a brief soul-lifting visit to the famed Lahaina Banyan Tree, which defied all odds in surviving the fire, and now thriving.

Say the word and we’ll venture further up the west Maui shoreline to the elegant resort area of Kapalua and beyond, to Honolua Bay, one of the most scenic overlooks in all the islands. If conditions are right and you’re eager for more time underwater, snorkeling the bay is an incredible experience. This tour is all about options, and at this point in our journey you have many from which to choose.

Explore Historic Iao Valley

Step into the heart of Maui’s history with a visit to ʻĪao Valley, one of Hawaiʻi’s most sacred and scenic locations. Surrounded by lush rain forest and soaring emerald cliffs, the valley is home to the iconic ʻĪao Needle, a 1,200-foot natural rock pinnacle rising dramatically above the landscape. Enjoy breathtaking views while learning about the valley’s cultural significance and its role in Hawaiian history. If you’re fit and adventurous, there’s an amazing river rock scamper hike nearby (maximum 4 reasonably fit guests.)

Stroll Paia Town

Paia is Maui’s quaint little north shore surf town, known for its colorful storefronts, laid-back atmosphere, and rich plantation-era history. Once a thriving sugar plantation community, Pāʻia has evolved into a unique blend of local culture, art galleries, boutique shops, and island-style eateries. Stroll its historic streets, soak in the town’s eclectic character, and visit some of the island’s best locally-owned galleries, shops and restaurants.

Hookipa Overlook

Just past Paia, Maui’s iconic Ho’okipa awaits, where your cliffside view offers the perfect vantage point of the panoramic shoreline below, crashing waves, and world-class kiteboarders, kitesurfers, and surfers. On most days you’ll experience one of Maui’s gifts: the sight of our Hawaiian green sea turtles, basking on the warm sand at day’s end. Ho’okipa is a a favorite stop for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Tour Upcountry

Experience yet another distinctly different Maui ecosystem as we meander the roads on the slopes of dormant Haleakala Crater, taking us through the upcountry Maui towns of Makawao, Pukalani, and Kula. This side trip offers a refreshing contrast to the island’s coastline. Winding country roads lead through paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) country, flourishing farms, Jacaranda-lined streets, and sweeping vistas overlooking Maui’s central valley and neighboring islands. This scenic drive showcases a quieter side of Maui, blending rural charm, rich agricultural heritage, and breathtaking panoramic views that reveal the island’s diverse natural beauty.

Oceans Vodka, Surfing Goat Dairy, Kula Botanical Gardens

Among scenic Maui’s Upcountry attractions are three local favorites. Ocean’s Organic Farm & Distillery offers unparalleled ocean and mountain vistas from a beautifully-tended lawn with plenty of seating and great food and refreshments – a perfect day-ending venue. Tour Surfing Goat Dairy, and meet friendly goats and discover award-winning artisanal cheeses. Kula Botanical Garden is an otherworldly sanctuary filled with vibrant tropical flowers, native Hawaiian plants, koi ponds, and lush garden pathways.
